Often we are unhappy with our visits to doctors, and we address them only in case of emergency. This is not quite the right decision. A woman should not neglect her health and be observed regularly. It’s good if you have a family doctor who knows you from childhood and knows the history of your family. If not, then make your visits to the doctors as useful and as regular as possible. And how to do it, we’ll tell in this article.
By the first visit to a new doctor, you must prepare as detailed a medical record as possible. This means – all the information from the last anti-tetanus vaccination to the history of your family’s illnesses. To obtain your data from the medical records and vaccination records, you may need to call your former doctor and ask them to send your details. To collect information about family illnesses, ask parents, even if you think you already know everything. I have a girlfriend who only in 40 years learned that both her grandfathers and uncle died from diabetes. In addition, you should bring a list of dosages (and even better – bottles) of any medications that you take, plus information about your allergies and any reactions that you had on any medications.
Before you go to the doctor, think about what you want from this visit – and write it down. If you came to the annual examination, list the unusual symptoms at the beginning of the visit. Do not wait for the visit to tell the doctor. “Oh, and my wrist and nightmarish eel hurt terribly.” So you are wasting your time and your doctor. Instead, immediately list everything that bothers you so that the doctor can determine what is important and give you the necessary attention.
There is a saying: you can not lie to your doctor and your lawyer. Let’s rephrase: never hide information from your doctor, even if you are embarrassed or you are not sure how important this is. The more you tell your doctor, the better you will be treated, and therefore be completely frank about your medical record and lifestyle. Most likely, the doctor has already heard all this.
The doctor should listen to all your questions and answer them honestly and sympathetically. In addition, he must himself set a number of questions, with which he will make sure that you lead the most healthy way of life. In addition to the usual questions about the diseases that have been transferred, the doctor should ask you about the menstrual cycle, sexual life, whether you smoke, drink or take drugs, and how often, do you exercise and what are your eating habits. The doctor should spare no time and seriously discuss all your problems.
This is not a one-time meeting, and if you want the relationship to be long, trust your reactions when you decide if this doctor is right for you. You can also give these relationships time for development. Usually, in order for you and the doctor to know each other, more than one visit is required.
