This question is very important, and it is hardly possible to find a man whose menu does not change on hot days.
So what should you give your preference in the summer season? Fruit, cooling beverages, ice cream … Not many people will think of a warm soup or a meat dish in the summer. And in the hot time, expectant moms often have no appetite.
As a result, many important products, such as meat and fish, get to the table far less often than necessary for a pregnant woman. So in the summer one of the basic principles of nutrition – diversity is violated, this means that a future child may not receive all the nutrients it needs. How can this be avoided?
Search for alternatives in nutrition
Replace fallen into disfavor in the summer of products close in composition. For example, instead of meat you can eat cottage cheese or cheese, and instead of hot soups you can prepare refreshing cold soups.
In addition, in the summer you can include in the menu a variety of cold dishes – both from meat and fish, and from vegetables and cottage cheese.
Eat less, but more often
If you do not have the strength to cope with three complete meals a day, divide them into several parts, while eating every 2-3 hours. Among other things, this variant of nutrition is very useful for the body.
If you organize your menu so that it includes two breakfasts, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner and a glass of milk or kefir before going to bed, you will not feel heaviness in the stomach and heartburn.
It is also very important in the summer to limit the amount of salt consumed. Do not get carried away with salty foods, as they increase thirst and affect the appearance of swelling.
Cook the food properly
Use “gentle” cooking methods such as stewing, cooking, baking or steaming. Prepared in this way, food is better digested and does not irritate the stomach and intestines. In addition, these dishes contain fewer calories, because they have less fat.
Do not overdo even with vegetables and fruits
Every pregnant woman knows about the importance of vegetables and fruits for the development of a healthy child, but these products do not need to get carried away. Vegetables and fruits in large quantities, for example, can cause an allergic reaction and, if there is a tendency to allergies, it is desirable to exclude from the menu those fruits that cause it.
Another reason is that vegetables and fruits can cause heartburn, which worries many women in the second half of pregnancy. It is caused by the fact that the increasing uterus causes pressure on the stomach and the gastric juice is thrown into the esophagus, which in turn causes a feeling of irritation and burning. Vegetables and fruits raise acidity and can cause an increase in these unpleasant sensations, it is better to eat less of such products in fresh form (especially if they are acidic).
Fruits sometimes cause intestinal disturbances. Thanks to the fibers, fresh fruit improves the functioning of the intestines, but their excess can easily lead to diarrhea. Very often, these inconveniences are caused by stone fruits such as plums, peaches, apricots, cherries, blackberries, grapes, melons, and some fruits from this list are also responsible for increased gas production in the intestine.
All the above recommendations are of a general nature, and every pregnant woman, considering them, knowing their preferences, having consulted with her doctor should choose for herself the most optimal diet and diet.
Health to you and your baby!
